What does the course entail?

Certificate II in Creative Industries (Screen & Media) is a two-year course designed for students who are interested in developing skills in film, video production and digital media. The course introduces students to the fundamentals of screen production, combining creative thinking with practical, hands-on learning.
Students will explore the process of planning, filming and editing media content. This includes developing ideas, storyboarding, working with cameras and audio equipment, and editing using industry-standard software. You will experiment with different media forms such as short films, documentaries, interviews and promotional content, while building an understanding of how media is produced for real audiences. Throughout the course, students will work both independently and collaboratively on productions, developing teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills essential for the creative industries. PREREQUISITES: HOLA recommendation. |
What are the career possibilities? This course provides a strong foundation in creative and technical skills used in the screen and media industries. Possible entry-level career outcomes include production assistant, camera assistant, video editor, content creator, or media assistant. The course also supports pathways into further study and a wide range of creative careers, including film and television production, digital media, marketing, journalism, and social media content creation. |
What will be covered in this course?

Students will need to be available for at least two college events including College Carnivals, Performing Arts events, school excursions, and year group events, to capture content for some units of competency.
Students are also expected to submit work to external competitions where appropriate. This course is delivered through a Nationally Registered Training Organisation, and all units of competency must be achieved to the required standard to be awarded the full qualification – Certificate II in Creative Industries (Screen & Media) (CUA20225).
