What does the course entail?

Certificate II in Visual Arts (Photography) is a two-year course designed for students aiming to build their photography knowledge and practical skills. This course is designed to introduce basic and intermediate design skills specific to digital photography, as well as providing an interactive, practical environment exploring a wide range of digital photography techniques.
You will develop basic camera skills, experiment with composition and lighting, create photographic work for real-world clients, and use studio photography equipment and plan and execute a location-based photoshoot. You will also build your image editing abilities using industry-standard Adobe programs. PREREQUISITES: HOLA recommendation. |
What are the career possibilities? This course provides a strong foundation in creative and technical skills used in the photography and visual arts industries. Possible entry-level career outcomes include photographer’s assistant, junior photographer, digital imaging assistant, studio assistant, or image editor. The course also supports pathways into broader creative roles, including content creation, graphic design, and marketing. |
What will be covered in this course?

Students will need to be available for at least four college events where they will complete some units of competency. Events include College Carnivals, Performing Arts events, Visual Art FORGE exhibition, possible camp/excursion days and year group events.
Students are also expected to produce photographs for external competitions and help run the Leanne Joyce Photography Award competition at the College. This course is being delivered through a Nationally Registered Training Organisation and all units of competency must be achieved to the competency standard to achieve the full qualification - Certificate II Visual Art (Photography) (CUA20715).
