For students in Years 11 and 12 (Industry Pathway)

'This program supports students completing TAFE or a traineeship while providing real experiences to explore future pathways'.

What does the course entail?

The Futures Program is a practical Year 11 and 12 program that supports students completing a TAFE course or school based traineeship, while helping them explore future pathways through real world experiences.

Students are provided with structured study time to manage their TAFE or workplace commitments, while also developing confidence in unfamiliar environments, strengthening their communication skills, and building the independence needed to make informed decisions about their future.

The course encourages students to step outside their comfort zone, take ownership of their learning, and engage with real opportunities.

This course is suited for students who are completing a TAFE course or traineeship and are ready to challenge themselves, connect with industry, and actively explore pathways into employment, training, or further study.

Students will gain:
  • Support to manage TAFE or traineeship commitments
  • Confidence in real world and unfamiliar situations
  • Strong communication and networking skills
  • Greater independence and ownership of decisions
  • Clear direction for future pathways
  • A portfolio of experiences and skills to support future opportunities
Student expectations:
  • Students are expected to manage their time effectively, engage positively in real experiences, and take responsibility for balancing school, TAFE or traineeship commitments.
  • Completion of Workplace Learning is a required part of the program. 

What will be covered in this course?

Students will take part in a range of real world learning experiences that build practical skills and support their pathway development.

The course includes:
  • Structured study time to support TAFE courses or traineeships
  • Learning through real experiences, challenges, and reflection
  • Industry guest speakers and alumni panels
  • Excursions and opportunities to engage with workplaces and employers
  • Workplace Learning with increasing independence
  • Activities that build networking and professional communication skills
  • Opportunities to explore career pathways and future options

Students are expected to take greater responsibility for their learning, manage their time effectively, and apply their skills in real situations.

This program has a cost of $250 per year. This fee covers Workplace Learning coordination, access to external industry events and programs, off site experiences, and resources that support students alongside their TAFE courses or traineeships.
