Applied Information Technology ATAR

What does the course entail?

The Applied Information Technology (AIT) ATAR course for Years 11 and 12 equips students with the knowledge and skills to navigate and contribute to a digital world. It blends creativity, technology, and problem-solving to prepare students for further study and careers in the digital and information technology sectors.

In Year 11, students explore how digital technologies are used to create and communicate ideas, focusing on media production, data management, and business IT solutions. They gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software and hardware, develop digital solutions using the design process, and consider the ethical, legal, and social responsibilities involved.

Year 12 builds on this foundation with a deeper dive into advanced technologies. Students examine user interface design, multimedia production, mobile technology, data security, and global digital issues such as the digital divide and e-commerce. They manage projects from concept to completion, guided by client briefs, research, and user feedback.

The AIT ATAR course fosters strong project management, communication, and critical thinking skills. It provides a solid foundation for university pathways in computer science, software development, media production, or cybersecurity, and supports careers in IT support, web and graphic design, systems analysis, digital marketing, and network management.

“I learned so much this year and want to do it again!”
