What does the course entail?
The Certificate II Hospitality is delivered over two years. Students are required to commit to both years in order to complete this qualification.
This qualification provides a pathway to work in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops.

What will be covered in this course?
Year 11This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to assist in catering and commercial kitchens. You will learn skills in preparing and storing food, washing dishes and utensils, preparing and presenting food, maintaining supplies and cleaning work areas. You will also learn about the hospitality industry, hygiene and safety in the workplace and effective communication. You will practise the skills you have learned in a simulated work environment.

Year 12You will continue to complete certificate requirements focusing on the development of practical skills and knowledge to assist in catering and commercial kitchens. You will practise the skills you have learned in a simulated work environment.

ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE
In order to meet the specifications of the course, students are required to achieve competency in all of the core and elective units over two years in order receive the full qualification and certificate.
While some of the assessments are practical in nature, many units will require students to research hospitality related information and create an extensive written response.
Students are required to participate in the serving of food and beverage on twelve occasions. These events will help them to demonstrate improvement of essential skills and knowledge required for successful completion of the course. Some of these events MAY be out of normal school hours.
