What does the course entail?
The Media Production and Analysis General course aims to prepare students for a future in a digital, interconnected world by providing the knowledge and skills to tell their own stories and interpret the stories of others. Students, as users and creators of media products, consider the important role of media in society, and demonstrate an understanding of media languages, representation, audiences and production skills and processes.
This course focuses on the development of critical thinking, creativity and technical skills throughout the practical process. When producing media work, students learn to make decisions about all aspects of production, including creative choices across pre-production, production and post-production phases. This provides an opportunity for students to reflect on and discuss their own creative work, intentions and outcomes. Across Year 11 and 12, students will work across a range of media formats including, local and international film, broadcast and participations media, promotion and marketing, news and current affairs, and documentary.
