Year 11 & 12 Industry Path

Path explained

The Industry Pathway is designed for students who learn best through practical, real world experiences. Alongside their SCSA courses, students complete a VETDSS course through TAFE or a Fee For Service option, combining school, workplace learning, and training to support pathways into employment, further study, or TAFE after Year 12.

Industry Path students enrol in Year 11 or 12 Futures, which provides structured study time alongside practical learning through real world experiences and skills practice. Students are supported by Kolbe staff to manage their wellbeing and academic load, while also being guided to secure and succeed in Workplace Learning placements.

Completion of the SCSA endorsed Workplace Learning, can earn valuable WACE credit.

Please note that a fee of $250 applies to the Year 11 and Year 12 Futures Program as part of the Industry Pathway.

Who would this path suit?

For Year 11 and 12 students who have a passion and understanding of the industry that they want to work in.

For a student who wants to deepen their learning experiences through study at TAFE.

For a student who wants to take the theoretical knowledge they have learnt and apply it to the world of work.

VETDSS & fee for service training

Students in the Industry Pathway must enrol in a VETDSS course through TAFE or an approved Fee for Service training provider.

To begin planning for subjects selections, refer to the 2026 course guides for North Metropolitan TAFE and South Metropolitan TAFE (click the links). While 2027 courses are not yet released, these guides show what is typically available. When reviewing, consider:
  • course duration (1 year or 2 years)
  • campus location (Manageable travel)
  • first and second preferences (Have a Plan B)

TAFE applications open later in Term 2 and early Term 3, so early research is important.

Students can also explore Fee for Service training through Health Science Hub & Fremantle Education Centre (FEC) (click the links), which provides a 2027 prospectus with course details, locations, and costs.
